HSA (
What is the HSA? – The HSA is here for you, the parents, grandparents, carers and teachers of all the children who attend
How does it work? – The HSA is run by a committee of an elected chair, secretary and treasurer. These representatives are elected annually at the first HSA meeting or AGM of the school year. Supporting this committee is a group of parents, grandparents, carers and staff (some of whom also have children attending the school), who together with the committee decide what the HSA should do each year and then actually deliver it.
The present HSA committee
Chair - Catherine Rowlands
Secretary - Helen Bailey
Treasurer - Elinor Smith
Assistant Secretary – Gaynor Venn
Assistant Treasurer – Liz Williams-Keeble
How to help? – If you would like to become involved with the HSA, whether it’s simply sitting in on our meetings just to listen; coming up with ideas, or helping out at our events then please get in touch. We always welcome new-comers and would value any help or suggestions you have.
HSA News - During the last academic year Sept 08 – July 09 we have held 2 discos during the autumn and spring terms for both infant and junior children. We have put on a Christmas Fayre and Summer Fete, both of which are always a success. Unfortunately the weather for our summer fete was a washout once again, but this didn’t stop you from turning up. At this point, we would like to thank ASDA for their very kind donation of hot dogs and rolls which sold like …… well … hot dogs! We also thank the PDSA for their contribution of the giant cuddly toy for our ‘Name the Cuddly’ competition.
One of our most successful fundraisers once again this year was the sponsored fitness event. DJ Stirling really worked up a sweat to a 20 minute dance workout with every class from Reception to Year 5. Our children did really well in collecting sponsorship for their class events, the total of which will be advertised here soon. The Nursery class also had a workout of their own in the shape of the Teddy Bears’ Picnic, where they used gym apparatus in the main school hall.
How was the money spent? – Items purchased include:
- Construction toys for all years - Kapla
- Computers for the reception classes
- Child friendly digital cameras for multi media use in the classroom
- A new digital video camera, to use when recording the children at work etc..
- A love spoon which was presented to Mrs Susan Davies on her retirement after many years of service
- A love spoon which was presented to Mrs Marilyn Heslop on her retirement after many years supporting the school during dinner breaks, and for much her valued help and support in all H.S.A events. We will miss you
